Can therapy help me?
Some people think their anxiety and depression are traits or a part of their personality. I sometimes hear “I’ve always been a worrier” or “I’m just super sensitive to dirt and germs”. It is important to understand that if your experience of yourself (too anxious, sad all the time) is causing you to miss out on life or is giving you the sense that something is wrong.
Anxiety, depression, stress, are all modifiable and can be changed with the right support and learning skills in therapy that can help you change your experience.
Many people suffer from anxiety and depression and other mental health issues; most are highly treatable. Change does, however, always take commitment and effort on both of our parts.
How many sessions will I need?
Every person is different. Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, goals, and the challenges you are struggling with.
Many of my clients begin applying newly learned skills and can see the beginning of an improvement after the first few sessions. Over time, we will build and reinforce what we do in therapy for long-lasting gains.
While many of my clients come for a short course of therapy that targets one issues – such as anxiety or OCD, once they experience the life-changing benefits of therapy, many choose to remain for an additional course of therapy to target other issues. We will the goals most important to you.
